Sectionalism

In case you were wondering, Sectionalism means tension between regions of one country. Each region of the USA had its own economic base. The northeast's economic base was dairy products, cattle, industry, and textile. The Midwest's economic base was corn and wheat. The Upper-south's economic base was tobacco, corn , and wheat. The lower South's economic base was cotton, sugar, and rice. The lower that you move into the south states there would be more slaves because, the more cotton is grown there and slaves were used to grow and harvest cotton.
